Corrugated Packaging for E-commerce vs Industrial Use
Compare corrugated packaging requirements for e-commerce shipping vs industrial applications. Different specs, costs, and design approaches explained.

E-commerce and industrial packaging use the same basic material – corrugated board – but the requirements could not be more different. E-commerce boxes need to survive courier handling, look good at delivery, and minimize dimensional weight charges. Industrial boxes need to withstand forklift handling, protect heavy goods, and optimize pallet loading. Choosing the right approach for your application saves money and protects your products.

Cost Differences
E-commerce boxes are cheaper per unit (₹15-50 for 3-ply) but the per-shipment cost is higher due to individual packing, void fill, tape, and labels. Industrial boxes are more expensive per unit (₹50-200 for 5-7 ply) but the per-unit cost of goods is much lower because each box contains many products packed efficiently. The total packaging cost as a percentage of product value is typically 2-5% for e-commerce and 0.5-2% for industrial.
