CP1 to CP9 Pallets – Full Guide for Chemical Industry
Complete guide to CP (Chemical Pallet) standards from CP1 to CP9. Sizes, applications, and specifications for chemical industry logistics.

CP pallets, or Chemical Pallets, are a specialized range of pallet sizes developed by the European chemical industry association (APME/CEFIC) specifically for the chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. Unlike general-purpose pallets, CP pallets are designed to match the exact dimensions and weight requirements of standard chemical containers such as drums, IBCs, bags, and octabins.
In India, with Mumbai being a major hub for chemical manufacturing and export, CP pallets are in high demand from companies operating in the JNPT/Nhava Sheva port area, the Thane-Belapur industrial corridor, and the MIDC regions across Maharashtra. Understanding the CP pallet range is essential for any logistics manager handling chemical products.
The Complete CP Pallet Range
CP1 – The Universal Chemical Pallet
Dimensions: 1000mm x 1200mm. The CP1 is the most widely used chemical pallet globally. It perfectly accommodates four standard 200-liter drums (2x2 arrangement) and is compatible with most chemical warehouse racking systems. Load capacity: up to 1,500 kg dynamic. This is the default recommendation for most chemical logistics applications.
CP2 – Narrow Chemical Pallet
Dimensions: 800mm x 1200mm. The CP2 is a narrower variant designed for smaller chemical containers and bags. It fits the Euro standard width and works well in European-bound shipments. Often used for palletized sack goods and smaller chemical containers. Load capacity: up to 1,250 kg dynamic.
CP3 – Small Square Pallet
Dimensions: 1140mm x 1140mm. The CP3 is a square pallet designed for specific container configurations. Its square shape makes it popular for palletizing octabins and large square containers commonly used in the plastics and resin industry. Load capacity: up to 1,500 kg dynamic.
CP4 – Compact Pallet
Dimensions: 1100mm x 1300mm. The CP4 accommodates slightly larger containers and is frequently used for intermediate bulk packaging. Its dimensions optimize container loading for certain chemical product configurations. Load capacity: up to 1,500 kg dynamic.
CP5 – Heavy Chemical Pallet
Dimensions: 760mm x 1140mm. The CP5 is designed for heavy chemical drums stacked in specific configurations. Its compact size with robust construction makes it ideal for dense chemical products where weight per pallet is high. Load capacity: up to 2,000 kg dynamic.
CP6 – Midsize Pallet
Dimensions: 1200mm x 1000mm. The CP6 shares its dimensions with the standard ISO pallet but is built to the more rigorous CP construction specifications. It offers greater load capacity and durability than a standard pallet of the same size. Load capacity: up to 1,500 kg dynamic.
CP7 – Extended Pallet
Dimensions: 1300mm x 1100mm. The CP7 is used for larger chemical containers and specialized packaging configurations. Its extended dimensions accommodate equipment and containers that don't fit standard pallet sizes. Load capacity: up to 1,500 kg dynamic.
CP8 – Large Chemical Pallet
Dimensions: 1140mm x 1140mm (same as CP3 but different construction). The CP8 features a different board layout optimized for specific loading patterns. It is less common than CP3 but used in certain specialized chemical logistics chains. Load capacity: up to 1,750 kg dynamic.
CP9 – Maximum Chemical Pallet
Dimensions: 1140mm x 1140mm (reinforced version). The CP9 is the heaviest-duty variant in the CP range, designed for maximum loads in the chemical industry. It features reinforced construction with additional support blocks and thicker deck boards. Load capacity: up to 2,500 kg dynamic. This is the go-to pallet for heavy chemical drums and filled IBCs.
Why Chemical Industries Need Specialized Pallets
The chemical industry has unique requirements that general-purpose pallets cannot always meet. Chemical products are often heavy, corrosive, and hazardous. Standard pallets may not provide adequate support, may be contaminated by chemical spills rendering them unusable, or may not comply with the strict safety regulations governing chemical storage and transport.
