A skid is not a pallet with thicker boards. It is a purpose-engineered base for cargo too heavy or too large to sit on standard decking — turbines, presses, transformers, fabricated assemblies — where the load has to be distributed into specific beam lines and the whole unit has to be craned, dragged or jacked without racking itself apart.

Europack builds skids in engineered pine and hardwood with beam thickness specified to the load, bolted rather than purely nailed construction, and load-distributing rails placed against the cargo’s actual bearing points. Heavy equipment skids add steel bracket supports and anti-skid surfacing, and are built to global export grade with ISPM-15 heat treatment.

For cargo staged outdoors or shipped on deck, the rain and dust protection skid integrates a casing with waterproof sealants and is VCI compatible, so corrosion protection and the base structure are engineered as one system rather than bolted together on site.
